Apple Pie Filling for the Freezer

Every fall we head to the apple orchard and pick way more apples than we can possibly use. This year, I prepped enough apples for four pies!

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 2 T all purpose flour

  • 3/4 t ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 t salt

  • 1/8 t ground nutmeg

Combine dry ingredients together, then mix in apples.

Place in 1 gallon freezer bag, squeezing out as much air as possible. Freezer for up to 12 months.

When ready to cook, defrost filling and place in frozen pie crust. Cover with crumb topping. Bake at 375 for 50 minutes.

Crumb filling: 3/4c flour, 1/4c brown sugar, 1/3c softened butter. Blend together until well combined and mixture resembles coarse sand.
