My Red Tomato Sauce

Another recipe I curated after a lot of researching and testing.  

Ingredients:

  • 2 28oz cans whole peeled tomatoes

  • 1 28oz can crushed/kitchen ready tomatoes

  • 1.5c chopped onion

  • 10 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2c olive oil

  • 4t salt

  • 1t sugar

  • 1 6oz can tomato paste

  • 1.5t dried basil

  • 2T Italian seasoning

  • 1t pepper

  • bay leaf

Saute onions and garlic in olive oil until onions are translucent.  Stir in tomatoes, salt, sugar, Italian seasoning, and bay leaf.  Cover Reduce heat to low.  Simmer for 90 minutes.

Stir in tomato paste, basil, and pepper.  Simmer for 1 hour.
